Today has been fantastic! My Spotify Discover Weekly plays list was kicking out the perfect morning jams. I ran an errand driving in the rain. I love driving in the rain because it’s such a rare experience in San Diego. And I’ve been brewing cup after cup of fantastic coffee.
Moorcock’s Elric IP was optioned as a tv series but stalled due to the success of The Witcher. Shame, I was hoping to see Eddie Redmayne as Elric. As an alternative, I’d love to see a series based on Corum, the Prince in the Scarlet Robe. It’s got real Game of Thrones appeal.
There’s so much crazy stuff being produced for tv these days (I’m thinking of Grant Morrison’s Happy, for example) that I’m making my pitch to Hollywood: the short stories of Thomas Ligotti animated by the Brothers Quay. No-brainer.
I’ve been hand grinding my coffee beans for the last eight years. This week I purchased an electric conical burr grinder and what once took five minutes now takes 30 seconds. Why did I wait so long?
Watching The Road on Amazon with commercials is hilarious.
Odd that Vup’s attire is so subdued after Rios told us that you have to dress ostentatiously to blend in at Freecloud.
I’m still on the fence about Lower Decks but I can say unequivocally that I don’t hate it. I’m enjoying Picard but there’s more vaping and cigars in Star Trek than I remember.
Just finished binge-watching season three of Star Trek: Discovery. Listening to The Greatest Discovery recap before moving on to Picard. https://overcast.fm/+fSh6ZLnUk
I’d listen to this show just to hear Jim’s Big Ego’s cover of “Feelin’ Groovy”.
My son is into vinyl, so for his birthday, we’re taking him to the now re-opened Amoeba Music in Los Angeles this weekend. Aside from a Ween LP, I know he’s after. I have no idea what he’ll pick. And I’ll be on the lookout for a SWANS cd.
The last few days, I’ve been doing a deep dive listening to the Cerebro and Jay & Miles X-Plain the X-Men podcasts. It’s been a blast because I devoured X-Men from the 80s-00s. I had so few opportunities to talk X-lore, and those shows fill that need I didn’t know I had.
