The Bazooka Joe Show Halloween Special

Yet another Halloween tradition of mine was my yearly Halloween show on WMFO. I was not above playing “The Monster Mash” or “The Purple People Eater,” but I leaned more toward Goth, metal, and industrial. Here’s a Halloween show I did last century for your listening pleasure. 🎵

A Scanner Darkly

Another Halloween tradition I had was listing to a lot of Goth music. One of my favorite albums was This Is The Way by A Scanner Darkly, and I think that album is somewhere in my dad’s basement. Fortunately, someone uploaded the album to YouTube. I hope Sub Rosa will release the LP digitally some day. 🎵

When I was younger, my Halloween tradition was to read one story from H.P. Lovecraft a day. I ended that tradition because I don’t have that kind of time anymore and because I’ve re-read his stories many times.“The Rats in the Walls” remains my favorite story by Lovecraft.

Now that I’m back in the office I’m finding the oddest things at my desk, like a bowl and a spoon that haven’t been washed in over a year and a half. Gross.

Just worked w/ Phil Freeman (https://burningambulance.com/) on recording his introduction to his mix for Genius & Soul. We talked about why he loves jazz, music journalism, & his forthcoming book, Ugly Beauty.

The Curse of Using Facebook to Log In to Other Services

I never use Facebook, Gmail, Apple, Amazon, etc., to log in to the services I use. I don’t want to rely on the Stacks, so I’ll use my email address and generate a password.

Except for that one time I used Facebook to create an account with Spotify, and now that decision is biting me in the ass.

I made the exception with Spotify because I wanted to use the music service’s social media features. There didn’t seem any harm in it, but Facebook locked me out of my account for no apparent reason a year or so ago. Maybe my cat photos were too controversial?

I admit to trying a few times without successfully reactivating my account, but I didn’t care enough to resolve the issue. It was a minor inconvenience, but I didn’t miss Facebook as long as I still had access to Instagram and Facebook Messenger. And as we’ve learned what a terrible, awful, horrible company Facebook is, I was grateful that I couldn’t access my Facebook account.

Until this morning, when I found, I could no longer use Spotify.

So now I’m jumping through various hoops to reactivate my Facebook account. And once I do, I’m going to jump through whatever hoops are necessary to decouple my Spotify account from Facebook.

Lesson learned.

The other day by boy & I went grocery shopping & picked up a season box of Frankenberry cereal. I admit, I was excited. When we got home I poured myself a bowl I recalled that Monster cereals were more fun to eat than yummy. My first spoonful proved me right.

Hey, @bbohling, this is my knife I mentioned.

Published my first Now page. Keep tabs on this jetsetter.

I can hear the thunder rolling and I see lighting arcing through black storm clouds. Serendipity: I just came across on my walk with my dog.

Test pattern.

Finally seeing Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings in the theater. I have a couple of spiked podcasts I want to catch up on.
