Now that Iām back in the office Iām finding the oddest things at my desk, like a bowl and a spoon that havenāt been washed in over a year and a half. Gross.
Just worked w/ Phil Freeman (https://burningambulance.com/) on recording his introduction to his mix for Genius & Soul. We talked about why he loves jazz, music journalism, & his forthcoming book, Ugly Beauty.

The Curse of Using Facebook to Log In to Other Services
I never use Facebook, Gmail, Apple, Amazon, etc., to log in to the services I use. I donāt want to rely on the Stacks, so Iāll use my email address and generate a password.
Except for that one time I used Facebook to create an account with Spotify, and now that decision is biting me in the ass.
I made the exception with Spotify because I wanted to use the music serviceās social media features. There didnāt seem any harm in it, but Facebook locked me out of my account for no apparent reason a year or so ago. Maybe my cat photos were too controversial?
I admit to trying a few times without successfully reactivating my account, but I didnāt care enough to resolve the issue. It was a minor inconvenience, but I didnāt miss Facebook as long as I still had access to Instagram and Facebook Messenger. And as weāve learned what a terrible, awful, horrible company Facebook is, I was grateful that I couldnāt access my Facebook account.
Until this morning, when I found, I could no longer use Spotify.
So now Iām jumping through various hoops to reactivate my Facebook account. And once I do, Iām going to jump through whatever hoops are necessary to decouple my Spotify account from Facebook.
Lesson learned.
The other day by boy & I went grocery shopping & picked up a season box of Frankenberry cereal. I admit, I was excited. When we got home I poured myself a bowl I recalled that Monster cereals were more fun to eat than yummy. My first spoonful proved me right.

Hey, @bbohling, this is my knife I mentioned.

Published my first Now page. Keep tabs on this jetsetter.
I can hear the thunder rolling and I see lighting arcing through black storm clouds. Serendipity: I just came across on my walk with my dog.

Finally seeing Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings in the theater. I have a couple of spiked podcasts I want to catch up on.
DJ Shadow and Mark Mothersbaugh, if you should read this post, may I suggest you two gentlemen collaborate on an album? You can thank me later for the inspiration.

DJ Shadow mentions David Axelrodās Songs of Innocence album during the interview. Iāve been kind of obsessed with that LP the last few years. I would have loved to have Axelrod guest deejay an episode of Genius and Soul.

My friend turned me on to this interview with DJ Shadow about his Entroducing album. Itās been a minute since I last listened it but now Iām down the rabbit hole.

Iām only a couple of tracks in, but so far Iām impressed with Spotifyās algorithm thatās responding to my increased listening of jazz, black metal, and my usual weirdo inclinations.
Iāve dropped hints about Project X. Iām happy to share that Jan 1 Iāll launch Genius and Soul. The show will feature handpicked tracks lovingly selected by our guest deejays from the jazz and Black classical community. Follow us on Twitter to learn more.
