I’ve been using Evernote since my first generation iPhone. It was a valuable tool while I was freelancing. No matter my environment, I always had access to my notes, which was invaluable.
But I haven’t freelanced in over a decade, and I find myself using Evernote less and less. As much as I dislike Apple Notes, I’m considering moving all my notes there. I don’t see the point of paying for Evernote if I barely use it. I’m already paying for iCloud storage, so why not use Apple Notes?

Drafts Nerdery
Very productive night. I organized my Drafts widget. I also scanned quotes from print books I’m reading into Drafts. During my walk, I dictated notes to Drafts and action items to Omnifocus. And I just now processed everything in Drafts to Obsidian and Ulysses. Oh, and I made my 500 words per day in Ulysses.
Finished reading: Eisenhorn Omnibus by Dan Abnett 📚 I’m dubious about books based on IP, particularly RPG IPs, but when a friend recommended this book, I kept an open mind. I’m glad I did. This book took me a year to read, but it was a blast. I’ll miss having it in my life.

For the last decade, on the first day of winter, my tradition has been drinking a shot of aquavit every night for as long as the bottle lasts. I wasn’t feeling it last year, so the bottle in my freezer was forgotten until tonight. Feels weird to drink aquavit in the dead of summer.
I’ve arrived at the final essay in Miguel de Unamuno’s Tragic Sense of Life. Before I finish his book, I’m taking a day to process the essays I’ve read.
Unamuno has staked out the grounds for his argument for what he wants most: immortality. And not the faux immortality of statues or literary fame or living on in the memories of his family. No, Unamuno will accept nothing less than true immortality. But here’s the thing: Unamuno does not like definitions. He will walk up as close as possible to a working definition but not a step further. So he will not come out and state how he will achieve the immortality he craves.
Furthermore, the last essay is titled “Don Quixote in the Contemporary European Tragi-Comedy.” I’ve never read Don Quixote. Do I read the essay and hope my cultural knowledge of Don Quixote will carry me through? Or do I read Don Quixote first and then read the final essay?
