I was going to do the responsible thing and go to bed at a reasonable hour. But I discovered William Gibson’s The Peripheral television series is out. So, I’m staying up late. The intro is quite good, and the moments feel like a nod to one of the covers for Neuromancer.

The last week I’ve been puttering around in Automator and Shortcuts to automate a task I spend 5 minutes on every weekend. I’ll find out if everything goes off without a hitch this Saturday. If I’m successful, I will shave off nearly 5 hours of work a year.

I’ve been using Evernote since the first generation iPhone, and it’s always done what I needed. A few years ago, I was on a thread where people said Evernote was too cumbersome and wanted something lightweight. At the time, I disagreed with them.
I’ve also been using Drafts since it launched, but I’ve really been using it a lot over the last few months, and now I completely agree with those who said Evernote is too unwieldy.
However. I don’t think I could think I can use Drafts' Workspaces in place of folders. I have way too many projects for that to be feasible. Maybe Bear?
I have friends who find algorithmically generated playlists distasteful. They prefer a human deejay because, supposedly, you’re less likely to hear more of what you’re already listening to. I suppose that might be true if your listening habits are narrow. But as I write this, my Spotify Discover Weekly playlist played five songs in the row that floored that I doubt that I would have heard otherwise. Oh, make that six songs in a row.
Yesterday, I played the survival horror role-playing game Xas Irkalla. I’ve wanted to play this game for a very long time. The players were Taylor and Steve and Nathan, a new acquaintance. I haven’t run an RPG in a long time, and I was a little rusty. Everyone had played RPGs before except for Steve, and this was a weird game to introduce him to the role-playing game hobby. I think everybody had fun. Steve seemed to enjoy himself and threw himself into his character.
I’m looking forward to this weekend’s game, but I need to sharpen my game master skills.
