It’s that time of day where someone drives around in their car through my neighborhood shouting “911 was an inside job by the CIA!” through a megaphone.

I watched Alien: Covenant last night in preparation for January’s Mothership game. I wasn’t a fan of the movie when it was initially released, but I now think it’s excellent!

Every morning I listen to two albums. Today I listened to Eurythmia by Eve Risser Red Desert Orchestra and the UNIVERSAL CODE by Muriel Grossmann. 🎵

In preparation for running Mothership I have been watching cosmic and survival horror science fiction movies like Event Horizon, Aliens, and Prometheus. I’m happy to run whatever game the players want, but if I had my druthers, I’d like to run a game that explores artificial life and cosmic horror.
After playing Xas Irkalla, our gaming group has decided to continue the theme of survival horror. We’re going to play Mothership next. This means I can finally run a setting that blends Bruce Sterling’s Shaper/Mechanist stories and Greg Egan’s Diaspora novel.
Every morning I listen to two albums. Today I listened to Little Floating Oracles by ATŌMI and Push by Maral. 🎵

Xas Irkalla: Survival Horror Grimdark Comedy RPG
Yesterday we had the last session in our Xas Irkalla supernatural survival horror RPG. The game was so relentlessly grimdark that it verged into comedy. Everyone had a great time, so that’s all that matters. We’ve decided to continue our weekly game sessions, and the next game we’ll play will be Mothership, a science fiction survival horror RPG.
We’re playing these games via Discord. No maps; it’s all theater of the mind. We’ve kept each session to 90 to 120 minutes, so everything moves along quickly, and we usually do two scenes per session.
I’d love to hear any grimdark survival RPG tips you might have.

Every morning I listen to two albums. Today I listened to The Show Original Soundtrack by Andrew Broder and When the World Dies (thanks, Eric Harrison) by Come to Grief. 🎵

Today’s agenda:
- Process highlights from The Mongol Invasions of Japan, 1274 and 1281 by Stephen Turnbull in Obsidian
- Read - Making Comics by Scott McCloud
- Plan the conclusions for tomorrow’s last session of Xas Irkalla
- Write show notes for Sam Rosenthal’s Projekt mix for Soundwave
My reading stack currently includes two physical books. They are Lone Wolf and Cub Omnibus 1 and Making Comics. Gorgeous books. They are a delight to read. But they are such a drag to lug around. Especially Lone Wolf and Cub. If you dropped it, you might break a toe.
Every morning I listen to two albums. Today I listened to The Dance by Air Waves (thanks, @zioibi) and Songs Of Love And Hate by Leonard Cohen. 🎵
